Dans Nout, on peut entendre le nom de la déesse du ciel qui, dans la mythologie égyptienne, absorbe chaque soir le soleil avant de le délivrer le matin suivant. Mais on peut aussi entendre « nous », la première personne du pluriel, ou quand l’individu se (re)trouve dans le collectif. Chaînon manquant entre Nirvana et Sun Ra, l’alliance des trois musiciennes s’applique à pousser leurs instruments dans leurs derniers retranchements, avec l’enthousiasme du savant fou devant ses fioles. Flûte, harpe, batterie : un mélange rare que le trio met sens dessus dessous. Dans le sillage des expériences de John Zorn aux confins du jazz et du noise, Nout imagine ses morceaux comme de véritables scénarios à rebondissements : on se croit dans Alien et on se retrouve dans Indiana Jones ; on débute les yeux fermés sur des sièges rouges et on termine en pogo sur le dancefloor.

Missing link between Nirvana and Sun Ra, the collaboration between Delphine Joussein, Rafaëlle Rinaudo and Blanche Lafuente aims at pushing their instruments beyond their limits, with the enthusiasm of a mad scientist in front of his vials. Flute, harp, drums: a rare combination that this trio turns upside down. In the wake of John Zorn’s experiences on the borders of jazz and noise, Nout imagines its music as a scenario with surprising twists: we believe to be Ellen Ripley in Alien but we find ourselves in Indiana Jones; we start with our eyes shut on the red seat of a movie theater and we end up rocking in a moshpit.
NOUT was laureate JAZZMIGRATION #7 in 2022.
NOUT was finalist at Jazz à la Défense Jazz festival 2022; Delphine Joussein won the Instrumentalist Prize.

It is not by chance that despite them being rather young they already catched the interest of many promoters in France and beyond.
